John 15:2

2 ^aEvery branch in me that does not bear fruit ^bhe takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, ^cthat it may bear more fruit.

James 1:22-26

22 But be ^ddoers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, ^ethe law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, ^fhe will be blessed in his doing.

26 If anyone thinks he is religious ^gand does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s ^hreligion is worthless.

James 2:17-26

17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith ⁱapart from your works, and I will show you my faith ^jby my works. 19 ^kYou believe that God is one; you do well. Even ^lthe demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 ^mWas not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that ⁿfaith was active along with his works, and faith was completed ^oby his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, ^p“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a ^qfriend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also ^rRahab the prostitute justified by works ^swhen she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

2 Peter 1:5-9

5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith ^twith virtue, ^{▼▼Or excellence; twice in this verse} and virtue ^vwith knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control ^wwith steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness ^xwith brotherly affection, and brotherly affection ^ywith love. 8 For if these qualities ^{▼▼Greek these things; also verses 9, 10, 12} are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or ^aaunfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he ^abis blind, having forgotten that he was ^accleansed from his former sins.

1 John 2:3-4

3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we ^adkeep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments ^aeis a liar, and ^afthe truth is not in him,
